Traxxon Rock Drills opened for business on October 1, 2001 and while we may be a relatively young company we have some of the most experienced people in the rock drilling equipment industry. We also carry a very extensive line of quality products and services to help you reduce your drilling costs and increase your bottom line.

Our company has combined the collective experience of Traxxon Equipment and Pacific Percussion Industries (PPI).

Traxxon Equipment was founded by Mike Horvat in 1963 to manufacture tracked undercarriages for logging towers (yarders & spars) for S. Madill. Traxxon then moved into design, development and manufacturing mobile drill rigs built on the same style of undercarriage, using Sherman Tank components, called the Tank Drill. This became the industry standard drill rig for logging road construction in the rugged Coastal Mountain areas of the Pacific Northwest. The Tank Drill provided quick transport, great mobility in difficult terrain and excellent drill coverage when equipped with Traxxon’s uniquely designed and patented 360° self locking drill and boom positioner. In fact our company logo, the “Atomic T”, represents the ability to rotate the drifter through two separate planes so that the driller has total versatility in drifter positioning without having to jockey the rig.

We also believe this represents our commitment to 360° out of the box thinking. Our approach is to involve the customer (one plane) and our design team (the second plane) to wrestle even the most challenging drilling projects to the ground.

Through the 1980’s and 1990’s Pacific Percussion Industries (PPI) also manufactured a competitive line of Tank Drills built on the Sherman Tank carrier that used Sullivan drifters and rotary screw compressors. PPI was also a dealer/distributor for other lines of rock drilling products, most notably Sandvik Tamrock, Sullivan and others.

Today’s Traxxon is a leading manufacturer and distributor of drilling equipment, components and accessories for the rock drilling industry.
